Scenario and Summary

In this tutorial, you will see how OPNET Modeler can do organizational scaling to solve a typical “what if” problem. You will learn how to use OPNET Modeler features to build and analyze network models. This tutorial focuses on the use of the Project Editor and how it will be used with the Node and Process editors in later tutorials.

• Open OPNET Modeler
• Click on Help/Tutorials
• SelectSmall Internetworks from the Basic Tutorials list
• Perform the tutorial

Create a new Microsoft Word document for your lab report. Name your report -MIS589Week4Report.docx, i.e, DavidHarley-MIS589Week4Report.docx.

Assume that you will be turning in your report to your manager as your first assignment after being hired. The format of your report is up to you but first impressions are everything. As they say, practice makes perfect!

Address the following in your report:

• Introduction
• Effect of adding second network on Ethernet traffic
• Effect adding second network on Servers
• What would you expect if the second network had 45 nodes? Explain.
• What are your impressions for using a tool such as Modeler?
• Paste a screenshot of your final Network into your report
